The Sh&t Prayer

I was having a stressful moment, shift, day, week… and there was another trauma call for a chaplain.

I needed to pray. I needed to vent. I knew God would understand. And so I voiced my prayer:

“Sh&t, Sh&t, Sh&t, Sh&t, Sh&t…..Amen”

I later shared the experience with my coworkers.

I think it was soon afterwards that my fellow chaplains came to associate me with a particular emoji. I now have a Mardi Gras Sh&t emoji hat, a mug, and a flying Sh&t”

It”s ok to feel overwhelmed. It’s ok to pray in any words you find useful when only you and your Creator-Father/Mother can hear you. Be kind to yourself. You deserve kindness.

I am a wife, mother, and author. I taught high school for 27 years and I was a hospital and hospice chaplain until my health required that I retire. I miss my hospital coworkers and cannot imagine how terrible this year and last year have been. I want to be there for them in at least this small way.
